Teledyne FLIR Defense, part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has officially announced the launch of its all-new Cerberus XL C-UAS air domain monitoring and counter-drone platform.
According to certain reports, Cerberus® XL C-UAS happens to be a rugged, state-of-the-art integrated system decked up with high performance long-range sensors and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) technology.
More on the same would reveal how the stated solution effectively combines advanced thermal/visual imaging systems with highly sensitive, long-range 3D radars and RF detection to quickly locate and track drone targets. It also provides third-party non-kinetic effectors that can defeat threats out to three kilometers.
Making the given proposition even more attractive would be the technology’s modular nature, meaning it can be configured for air, ground, and maritime threats, allowing easy and quick deployment in each and every case. On top of that, it also puts on the offer a multi-domain situational awareness solution for the toughest air security challenges, such as military force protection, flight lines, airports, seaports, borders, and critical infrastructure.
We referred to Teledyne Cerberus XL C-UAS’ tendency to offer optimal flexibility, but what we still haven’t mentioned is its potential when it comes to ensuring continuous air defense. You see, by leveraging the technology in question, one can detect and track over 500 targets simultaneously with advanced radar and RF technology, thus enjoying the means to maintain uninterrupted air security.
Next up, we must dig into the solution’s Soft Kill Chain system. This one is essentially a multi-sensor, layered surveillance and UAS countermeasure system capable of using radar and RF for detection, non-kinetic jamming, and disruption. Not just that, it can also apply EO/IR for precise tracking and identification.
“The Cerberus XL C-UAS is one of the most sophisticated, sensitive, and comprehensive counter-drone systems available anywhere,” said Dr. JihFen Lei, president of Teledyne FLIR Defense. “Battle-tested and proven in Ukraine, Cerberus brings together the superior surveillance and radar technologies FLIR Defense has innovated for decades. Military and civilian customers can go from zero counter-UAS capacity to a full solution with this rapid-setup platform that integrates with existing effector systems to deliver drone defeat capabilities users can rely on.”
Another detail worth a mention here is rooted in the technology’s integrated command and control. To expand upon the same, Teledyne Cameleon™ C2 client interface can offer users capabilities pertaining to mapping, track display, camera control, mission recording, and system health monitoring.
Moving on to the prospect of a reduced operator workload, it will be achieved on the back of Cerberus XL C-UAS potential around integration and analysis of inputs from multiple sensors and systems, easing operator workload and increasing autonomy.
Finally, our last piece of highlight talks to a rapidly deployable trailer platform. We get to say because Cerberus XL C-UAS features a rugged fixed mast on a mobile platform that can be setup in minutes, not hours.
As for availability, Cerberus XL C-UAS and its ground surveillance variant, Cerberus® XL, both are available now to ship worldwide.
Founded more than 45 years ago, Teledyne FLIR Defense’s rise up the ranks stems from providing advanced, mission-critical technology and systems, with the company’s products known for their success against the world’s most pressing military, security and public safety challenges. The scale on which Teledyne currently operators can also be understood once you take into account how it provides most rugged, trusted unmanned air and ground platforms, as well as intelligent sensing devices used to detect chemicals, biological agents, radiation and explosives.
