The aerospace manufacturer reports higher quarterly revenue and profit, while a $4 billion share buyback adds to market attention
Cincinnati, 28 October 2026 – GE Aerospace shares rose 3.22% in the latest trading session, drawing investor attention after the company reported stronger third-quarter financial results. The increase followed higher revenue, improved profitability and a substantial share repurchase programme, reflecting the company’s performance in a market shaped by continued demand for aircraft engines and maintenance services.
The company reported third-quarter revenue of approximately $14.1 billion, a 16% increase compared with the same period last year. Adjusted revenue reached $13.3 billion, up 18%. GAAP profit increased 12% to $2.8 billion, while operating profit rose 30% to $3 billion. Adjusted earnings per share climbed 36% to $2.25, showing stronger earnings performance during the quarter.
A key contributor to the results was the continued demand for commercial aviation services. Airlines rely on engine maintenance, repairs, replacement parts and technical support to keep aircraft operating safely and efficiently. As aircraft utilisation remains important to airline operations, these services provide aerospace manufacturers with recurring business beyond the initial sale of engines.
GE Aerospace reported that commercial engines and services orders increased 58% during the quarter, while revenue in the segment rose 21%. Growth in maintenance activity and spare parts contributed to the performance. Equipment revenue also increased 38%, supported by higher engine deliveries.
The company’s order book remains another important part of its business outlook. GE Aerospace reported a total backlog of approximately $212 billion, representing orders and commitments that provide visibility into future demand. A large backlog can support long-term planning, although actual revenue depends on delivery schedules, production capacity and customer requirements.
Shareholder returns also featured in the latest developments. GE Aerospace completed a $4 billion share buyback, repurchasing approximately 11.9 million shares. When a company buys back its own shares, the number of shares available in the market decreases. This can support earnings per share, although it does not automatically guarantee continued share price growth.
Despite the positive trading session, market indicators remain mixed. Technical analysis cited by Traders Union showed that the stock was trading above its short-term moving average but below its medium- and long-term averages. This suggests that recent gains have not necessarily established a sustained upward trend. Investors may continue to assess future earnings, demand for aircraft services and the company’s ability to meet production targets.
GE Aerospace has also raised its full-year 2026 guidance following its quarterly performance. The company continues to invest in research and development, production capacity and customer support as it works to meet demand across commercial and defence aviation.
The latest share price movement highlights how earnings growth, capital returns and industry demand can influence investor sentiment. However, short-term market gains can change quickly, and future performance will depend on business results and broader market conditions.
