Relaying a Successful Push to Generate Greater Performance and Sustainability in Aerospace

CleanJoule, the full performance sustainable aviation fuel company, has officially published the list of all the major milestones it achieved during 2024.

According to certain reports, the company would go on to enter ASTM International’s certification process for its CycloSAF™ fuel. Furthermore, it unveiled SpaceSAF™ as a cutting-edge drop-in replacement for Rocket Propellant-1 (RP-1), while simultaneously continuing the expansion of operations by doubling its headcount, as well as building out its demonstration manufacturing plant in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Talk about these achievements on a slightly deeper level, we begin from CleanJoule’s bid to enter its CycloSAF™ fuel, a revolutionary sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with 10 percent higher energy density than Jet A, into ASTM International’s certification program. This was a significant development, considering it takes the company closer to commercializing CycloSAF™ as a drop-in solution for the aviation industry. Once that happens, CleanJoule would be able to dramatically cut down on carbon emissions, and it will do so without requiring any infrastructure changes whatsoever.

ASTM’s rigorous testing and approval process will also provide vital validation as CleanJoule works rigorously to advance the adoption and scalability of sustainable fuels.

“CleanJoule is laser focused on energy expansion. At the rate at which air travel is growing, the current-petroleum based Jet A supply can simply not keep up. The industry requires more sources of aviation fuel and the United States has more than a billion tons of biomass that can be converted to meet this need through domestic production,” said Mukund Karanjikar, CEO and Founder of CleanJoule. “We are proud to be at the forefront of bringing advanced, scalable aviation fuels to market and driving domestic job creation, supply chain resiliency, and national security as a result.”

Next up, we must dig into the company’s bid to launch SpaceSAF™, and therefore, reach upon a more sustainable space mission setup. In case you missed it, earlier this month, CleanJoule announced the launch of SpaceSAF™, which happens to be a superior drop-in replacement for Rocket Propellant-1 (RP-1), geared towards reducing the carbon footprint of space missions.

More on the same would reveal how SpaceSAF™ arrives on the scene with an ability to deliver high performance for rocket propulsion systems. Such a transformational technology should tread up a long distance to advance sustainable space exploration with 4 percent greater energy density than RP-1, eventually reducing the impact of space launches on the stratosphere.

Among other things, CleanJoule also facilitated renovation of its New Salt Lake City Demonstration Manufacturing Plant. You see, CleanJoule would renovate an existing factory into a new, state-of-the-art demonstration manufacturing plant in Salt Lake City, Utah. This plant, upon completion increased the company’s capacity to produce CycloSAF with a maximum output of 60,000 gallons per year. Not just that, the stated facility will also serve as a blueprint for full-scale CycloSAF plants worldwide, ensuring production readiness upon receiving ASTM International approval to sell the fuel.

Finally, the last highlight here stems from the company’s improved relationship with the Department of Defense. We get to say because CleanJoule was selected by the DoD’s Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program as an awardee to expand the domestic supply of ingredients and materials for U.S. supply chains by building out a proper bioproduction infrastructure.
